Thunderstorms are likely to hit Beaufort County on Thursday afternoon, according to a national Weather Service Charleston meteorologist.

"They could be severe, but we're looking at mostly rain with scattered thunderstorms," meteorologist Brett Cimbora said. "There could be showers before that in the morning. But they'll be pretty weak and fairly scattered."

Cimbora said conditions could give rise to severe thunderstorms, with one-inch hail, winds stronger than 50 mph, tornadoes or any combination of the three.
