Citizens of Beaufort need more answers

newsroom@islandpacket.comApril 27, 2014

There seem to be a lot of unanswered questions by citizens of Beaufort about the rezoning and possible development on the marina side of our waterfront. I am asking that Civic Green host a public forum to help us better understand the situation at hand.

If Civic Green accepts, Mayor Billy Keyserling, Beaufort City Council, the city's Redevelopment Commission, and Historic Marina Partners LLC developers Jim Chaffin and Steve Navarro should be invited to participate.

As all of the above are aware, this has become a very hot topic. There has to be some sort of explanation as to what is actually going on.

Most of the people in Beaufort are appalled over the decision to even think about developing a section of our waterfront.

I challenge the mayor and all the others listed here to hold a public forum on that section of the waterfront or at the Best Western.

The mayor and council members were elected by us and they need to give us the floor to question all of them over this matter. Civic Green should help us get the answers we need.
