A woman's purse was snatched at a Burton restaurant Friday afternoon, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

A customer at China Wok on Shanklin Road had paid for her meal about 8:30 p.m. when a man grabbed her purse off her shoulder and ran out of the restaurant, the report said. The suspect was described as a 5' 9", 160 pound black male, age 25 to 30, wearing a red shirt, dark shorts and gray and black shoes.

A witness told deputies the man had spent about 10 minutes in the restaurant, going in and out of the bathroom. He was holding a menu, but dropped it when he snatched the purse, the report said.

Officers searched the area but did not find the suspect. Security cameras at the restaurant were not working, the report said.

The incident is under investigation.
