Delay on pipeline part of disturbing trend

newsroom@islandpacket.comApril 26, 2014

What were you doing on April 18? Were you, like millions of other Christians, observing Good Friday or were you celebrating TGIF and waiting for the Easter Bunny?

I know what President Obama, his staff and political advisors were doing. They were dooming our energy future, locking us into continuing dependence on foreign oil and trying to save the political future of their party in the mid-term elections.

By again postponing the critical decision on the Keystone Pipeline, they are pandering to the "save the ecology" group, and trying to hide their decision to delay by releasing it on Good Friday -- allowing them to lock up $100 million from a major campaign contributor.

There should be a vote and action on this issue. It should be an issue that is front and center in the congressional races in November. It joins a list of issues delayed and taken off the table including the Affordable Care Act, Benghazi, the IRS scandal and the contempt charges against the Attorney General of the United States.

The American people need to demand more. Can we continue to allow Harry Reid to call those who exert their rights "domestic terrorists"? Can we allow President Obama, his press secretary and other politicians to lie and then just keep doing what they want to do?

We must follow the law, but it seems the present bunch in power is above the law and the Constitution.
