Hilton Head should enforce beach laws

newsroom@islandpacket.comApril 24, 2014

It's that time of year again when Hilton Head Island beaches are starting to get busy.

I am truly disappointed by the number of times I go to the beach in the middle of the day and still see people allowing their dogs to run free, even though as of April 1 that is not permitted between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

These are not kids doing it either. These are adults. It's not exactly a great example to set for our youth.

I regularly come across dog feces that has not been picked up by the dogs' owners. Disgraceful.

Perhaps if some of the beach laws were enforced on a more regular basis, this would cease.
