Time brings new perspective to issues

U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran, a Kansas Republican, speaking about Democratic candidates distancing themselves from Obamacare, said, "All of the incumbents certainly voted for it, and many of them have talked about pride in doing so."

Who wouldn't be proud of an attempt to bring insurance coverage to all Americans, especially to those unfortunates who need it the most? But I'm sure that 50 years ago, there were also many legislators who may have wanted to distance themselves from Lyndon B. Johnson's onerous Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act. And just as will happen with Obamacare, a few years down the road, lawmakers will be professing that they were behind the passage of the significant health care law all the way.
