Sales Tax Commission to meet Monday

newsroom@islandpacket.comApril 17, 2014

Beaufort County's Capital Project Sales Tax Commission will hold four meetings in coming weeks to discuss projects that might be paid for with a sales tax increase.

The county is considering a referendum for the November election that would let voters decide whether to adopt an additional 1 percent sales tax to pay off bonds to finance the projects.

The commission's next meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Monday in County Council Chambers at the county administration building, 100 Ribaut Road in Beaufort.

Meetings also are set for April 28 at the Bluffton Library at 120 Palmetto Way in Bluffton; May 12 at the Whale Branch Early College High School at 169 Detour Road in Seabrook; and May 19 at Hilton Head Island Town Council chambers at 1 Town Center Court on Hilton Head. All meetings will start at 6:30 p.m.
