A home on Martin Lane Road in Seabrook was severely damaged by fire Thursday night, displacing a family of four, according to a news release from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to David Grabenbauer, the Burton Fire District battalion chief on duty Thursday night. He said smoke was coming through the roof of the double-wide mobile home when crews arrived.

"We extinguished it pretty quickly, but the thing about double-wides is that when fire gets into that small attic space, it just moves through the entire residence," Grabenbauer said, adding the home was a "total loss."

No injuries were reported. The family was not in the mobile home when crews arrived, Grabenbauer said, but appeared on the scene later as crews worked to put out the flames.

Two adults, one young child and one infant lived in the mobile home, according to the Red Cross, which provided lodging, food and clothing to the family but did not provide further details.
