Cornelius Watson

A Beaufort man was charged Thursday with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Cornelius Watson, 21, allegedly sexually assaulted a female relative when she was 12 years old, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.

Watson admitted to having sexual intercourse with the girl in August 2012 and during the next few months when he was 20, according to McIntosh.

The girl disclosed the assaults to staff members of the Department of Juvenile Justice Youth Development Center in Aiken when she was admitted March 25. The assaults were reported to law enforcement March 27.

Watson is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center. His bond was set at $75,000.
