DAVIS, KELLY

The Ride of Silence to raise awareness about cycling safety will begin at 6:30 p.m. May 21 on Hilton Head Island.

The ride starts at Street Meet in Port Royal Plaza, 95 Mathews Drive. Bicyclists will leave the parking lot, head south on William Hilton Parkway to the stop light at Queens Way and return to the restaurant.

Bicyclists are asked to wear a helmet, a black armband and have lights on their bikes. Police will escort bikers during the nine-mile ride, during which the average speed will be 10 to 12 mph, according to a news release.
