Bluffton man charged in restaurant burglaries

A suspect was charged last week in connection with several burglaries at a Bluffton restaurant, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.

Donnell Antonio Mitchell Sr., 46, of Bluffton is accused of breaking into and stealing from the May River Grill several times since April 1. Mitchell was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of misdemeanor theft and one count of possession of burglary tools, according to the release.

More than $2,000 worth of food and tools was taken from the restaurant, according to police reports.

Mitchell was being held Wednesday at the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bail set at $74,062.08.
