Fire destroyed a home in the Pleasant Point neighborhood on Lady's Island on Wednesday, a Lady's Island-St. Helena Island Fire District spokesman said Thursday.

Firefighters were called to a Piccadilly Circle home around 7 p.m. Wednesday to find about half the home fully involved, spokesman Lee Levesque said. The fire took 48 minutes to extinguish, Levesque said, but firefighters were on site for over seven hours checking for hot spots and clearing the scene.

No one was injured. The family living at the home declined Red Cross assistance and were helped by friends and family, Levesque said.

Eighteen firefighters, three fire engines, two support trucks, Beaufort County EMS and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office all responded to the fire, Levesque said.
