Air Days begin Saturday at county airports

While command pilot Julian Hill starts the engines of Beaufort County's converted Convair C-131F mosquito plane, moisture from the dew-soaked grass creates a moving wall of mist Thursday morning at Beaufort County Airport on Lady’s Island.

Beaufort County will host two Air Days in April at the county airports on Hilton Head and Lady's islands.

A variety of aircraft will be on display at the events, including the county's mosquito-control airplane, Civil Air Patrol aircraft and several privately owned planes.

Several flight training organizations and the S.C. Aeronautics Commission will also have displays.

The county will host Air Days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Lady's Island Airport and April 26 at the Hilton Head Island Airport. Admission is $5 for adults and children can enter free.
