Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle evacuated due to bomb threat

Students and faculty at Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School were evacuated from the building just before 3 p.m. Wednesday after a bomb threat.

The call came in to a staff member around 2:45 p.m., and everyone was immediately evacuated from the school at 150 Hurricane Alley in Hardeeville to a field behind the building.

Hardeeville police searched the campus, which caused a slight delay in ending the school day for students. Nothing was found during the search, but a K-9 unit will still come in for an additional search, Jasper County School District spokesman Shellie Murdaugh said.

The incident remains under investigation by law enforcement and the school district.
