Rash of car break-ins in Hilton Head neighborhood

Several vehicles in a Hilton Head Island neighborhood were broken into overnight Monday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to Victoria Square Drive on Tuesday morning for several cars with shattered windows, according to reports on the incidents. After patrolling the Village at Victoria Square, deputies found three cars broken into and two unlocked cars with items missing, the reports said.

Property worth a total of $720 was stolen, including a book bag, textbook, radar detector and cash. Property damage from the shattered windows totaled $800, according to the reports.

Deputies found one of the missing items, a purse, in the road, a report said. The break-ins are under investigation.
