USC Beaufort baseball team shut out by St. Thomas, 10-0

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team dropped the opener of its three-game Sun Conference series at St. Thomas on Friday, losing 10-0 in seven innings.

The game was scoreless through three innings before a big fourth inning by the Bobcats did in the Sand Sharks (14-16, 6-10 Sun). St. Thomas sent 12 men to the plate in the inning and scored seven runs.

Eddie Cody went the distance for the Bobcats, striking out six and holding USCB to five hits. C.J. Kelly was tagged with the loss, allowing seven runs -- five earned -- on seven hits and walking four.

Matt Kianka had two of USCB's five hits, while J.J. Crespo, Brandon Joyce and Jon Andrews had one hit apiece.

The series concludes with a doubleheader starting at noon Saturday.
