Deputies are investigating the kidnapping and attempted murder of a man found alongside a Hardeeville road Monday, according to a Jasper County Sheriff's Office news release.

The Levy Fire Department was called to the intersection of Freedom Parkway and Goethe Farm Road at about 6 a.m. for a possible car accident involving a pedestrian. However, firefighters found only a man who had been stabbed in the torso and neck, the release said.

The man, who was partially nude, was flown by LifeStar Air Ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. Deputies and S.C. Highway Patrol troopers determined he had been intentionally pushed from a car.

The victim's identity and condition were not available Tuesday. An investigation continues.
