STOCK — -

A fire Sunday caused extensive damage to a St. Helena Island home, displacing four people, according to a news release from the Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District.

Firefighters were called to a home on Warsaw Island Road at about 11:30 p.m. and found heavy flames coming through the roof of the large, elevated home. It took about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire, but firefighters stayed on the scene for hours to help salvage the family's belongings and investigate the fire's cause, the release said.

A cause had not been determined as of Monday evening.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. The American Red Cross helped two adults and two children displaced by the fire, according to a news release from that organization.

Beaufort County EMS and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office also responded to the fire, the release said.
