Samford up early at Low Country Intercollegiate at Moss Creek

Samford, behind Bailey Gray's 76, holds a slim one-stroke lead over Western Carolina, 313-314, after Sunday's first round of the Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford on Moss Creek's South Course.

Gray, whose score is second by a stroke to the 75 of Western Carolina's Kristin Swindell, is joined in the top 5 by fellow Bulldog Natalie Mitchell, whose 78 has her in a tie for fifth.

The Catamounts' Kim Mitchell joins Swindell in the top five with a 77, good for third place.

Host Wofford tied for sixth in the team standings at 327, 14 strokes off the lead.

International Junior Golf Academy graduate Olivia Landino of Western Carolina, is playing as an individual. She shot a 15-over 87 and sits in 46th place.

The tournament continues Monday when the teams get off to a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
