Number of years teaching: 35 in New York and five in Beaufort County

Why I became a teacher: I became a teacher because it made it possible for me to combine two avenues of study that I am passionate about. First of all, I have always loved art. Drawing, painting, being creative and making things have always been and still are ways of centering my life. They give me joy and peace. The second area is the education of young children. It is so exciting to see the pride and joy in children when they are creating and expressing themselves, while discovering new and wonderful ways of creating. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and a day does not pass without these young "Picassos" amazing me. I truly believe the expression, "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life." Not a day goes by that I am not excited to come to school and discover what my children will teach me that day. My position has also afforded me the opportunity to share my days with equally dedicated educators who share my compassion and love for "our" children. RELATED CONTENT
