Calling all photographers: Help us show off this birdwatcher's paradise

Posted by JEFF KIDD on March 21, 2014

The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette are working on an ambitious, interactive graphic highlighting the 10 best places in the Lowcountry to go birdwatching. And we want you to help us tell the story.

We’re seeking photos taken by readers at each of the 10 sites. We’ve pulled some of the best submissions to Untamed Lowcountry’s weekly galleries for inclusion in this project, but we’re running a bit low of photos from a few sites. At the risk of spoiling the surprise, we’re seeking photos from:

• Grove Plantation/Ernest Hollings ACE Basin NWR

• Bear Island WMA

• Donnelley WMA

• Webb Wildlife Center WMA

• Fish Haul Creek/Mitchelville Beach

If you have photos of birds taken at any of these areas and would like to submit them for consideration, email them to Managing Editor Jeff Kidd at You must own rights to the photo(s) you submit and grant the newspaper non-exclusive rights to publish them. We can’t compensate you, but all published photos will be credited to the owner/photographer.

Help us show off some of the best sights Mother Nature has to offer in the Lowcountry, and keep an eye out for the completed graphic in the weeks ahead.

The Island Packet is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
