Support community by attending school events

newsroom@islandpacket.comMarch 20, 2014

I attended the Beaufort High School production of "The Wiz" and I must say -- what fun! There were singers, dancers and other performers along with music by the orchestra. With the students stepping up and adding so much of themselves to this production, it's a shame that so few came out to enjoy it.

The lack of community support speaks volumes about what we deem worthy of our time, and the few lousy dollars it cost to see this or any production put on by our local students. In an area that offers so much in the way of the arts, I am very surprised and saddened by the lack of recognition of such performances.

Shame on us. We should be supporting and advocating for our children and their future.
