Traffic plan needed for St. Pat's parade

newsroom@islandpacket.comMarch 19, 2014

After attending the Hilton Head Island St. Patty's Day parade, I was sitting in my car pondering the following: How come drivers, including myself, sat for more than an hour in traffic, moving only inches at a time? And we were still a quarter of a mile from Coligny Circle at the end of that hour.

Who was in charge of traffic control? Whoever it was, should be fired! I can't figure out why the same system used for the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing isn't used for the parade.

Closing Cordillo Parkway from Deallyon Avenue to Pope Road, as well as not controlling the light signal, was idiotic.

And when the rain began, I only observed a lot of law enforcement sitting in their vehicles. They weren't directing traffic at all.
