Beaufort County will host a grand opening and tour of the new Beaufort County Coroner's Office at 11 a.m. April 14 at the office at 1804 Old Shell Road in Port Royal.

Coroner Ed Allen, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Port Royal Mayor Sam Murray and County Council Chairman Paul Sommerville will host the event and tour the building.

The new office is the result of an $850,000 renovation of the Old Shell Road building, which once housed the county's Disabilities and Special Needs program. The space will be shared by the coroner, Sheriff's Office's Victim and Juvenile Services and a new morgue.
