At least one person was injured Friday evening in a head-on collision on the Savannah side of the Back River Bridge, according to Savannah Fire and Emergency Services.

Both directions of the Talmadge Memorial Bridge were closed due to the wreck, according to the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department. The closure was expected to last until about 9:30 p.m.

An emergency services spokesman said one person was extricated from a vehicle. That person's condition, along with additional information about the collision, was not immediately available.

Attempts to reach Savannah police spokesman Julian Miller were unsuccessful.
