USCB plan shows lack of accountability by town

newsroom@islandpacket.comMarch 12, 2014

The University of South Carolina Beaufort is still coming to Hilton Head even though the town and others are concerned about increased traffic. Who recommends and approves these purchases? Land deals don't happen this fast. The town must have already been considering alternative USCB sites last fall while defending the Coligny plan. Why weren't other options brought forth at that time? Where is the transparency in our town government? Is our mayor and council so set on spending this money that they are blind to the long-term expenses and impact on the citizens? Just because this site doesn't impact Forest Beach, doesn't mean the same questions don't remain: Who at the town has experience with large capital projects? Where is the traffic impact analysis? Where is the feasibility study?
