The USC Beaufort men's golf team posted two solid rounds and is in fourth place on a crowded leaderboard after the first day of the Sand Shark Classic at Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie.

USCB posted rounds of 296 and 297, leaving the Sand Sharks some work to do in Tuesday's final round if they want to win their own tournament for the third straight year. The Sand Sharks are 12 shots behind third-ranked Coastal Georgia (581), which has a five-shot cushion over Johnson & Wales and is eight shots clear of Southeastern.

Matt Morin of Johnson & Wales and Kyle Martin of Southeastern are tied for the individual lead at 1-under-par 141. The final round is scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
