Prep Roundup, March 7: Hilton Head High boys top Prep in Beaufort Cup, 3-1

BOYS SOCCER

Hilton Head Island High 3, Hilton Head Prep 1: Freisser Queseda, Kevin Palacio and Garvin Richards scored goals to lift Hilton Head High in a Beaufort Cup tournament matchup.

Goalie Marlon Ascension made five saves for the Seahawks (1-1), who will host Beaufort Academy at 1 p.m. Saturday in a consolation game.

Teron Daley scored a second-half goal for Hilton Head Prep, with an assist from Will Peterkin. Keeper Robert Clark made five saves for the Dolphins (0-2), who play Whale Branch at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hilton Head High in the other consolation game.

The championship game of the tournament will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Hilton Head High between Beaufort High and Bluffton.

BOYS LACROSSE

Hilton Head Island High 10, Riverside 9: Thomas Farrell scored four goals and Michael Stumm made 18 saves as the Seahawks rallied past Riverside and held on for a win.

Bently Moore and Will Urbin added two goals apiece, and Daniel Geoffroy and Chase Rinehart had the other goals for Hilton Head High (2-1), which trailed 5-2 at halftime before scoring seven unanswered goals.

The Seahawks play again next Friday, hosting Porter-Gaud.

WRESTLING

North-South all-star matches: Whale Branch heavyweight Max Ford, the two-time Class 2-A/1-A state champion, pinned Rock Hill's Travis Strait, and Battery Creek's Brian LaBean defeated Michael Weber of Riverside, 10-1, on the opening day of the North-South matches at North Myrtle Beach High School.

The all-star showcase continues Saturday.
