A Hardeeville man wanted on murder charges was arrested Friday, after eluding authorities in a chase in Bluffton Thursday night, according to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

Travis Wiggins, 22, is accused of firing several shots into a Honda Accord on Church Street in Hardeeville last Sunday, killing Hardeeville resident Taj Lewis Garvin, 25, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

S.C. Law Enforcement Division officers tried to arrest Wiggins at about 8 p.m. Thursday in Bluffton, but he ran away, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

He was captured Friday afternoon by SLED officers in Bluffton's University Park community, according to Maj. Donald Hipp of the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. Additional charges are pending, Hipp said.

He declined to release more information, citing the ongoing investigation.

Wiggins was being held Friday at the Jasper County Detention Center.
