Authorities searched a Bluffton neighborhood late Thursday for a man wanted on a murder warrant in Jasper County, but the man was not found, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division tried to serve a warrant on 22-year-old Hardeeville resident Travis Wiggins about 8 p.m., according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect ran from the area on foot and was last seen running toward Bluffton Park, McIntosh said.

It was not immediately clear Friday morning how old Wiggins is or what incident he is wanted in connection with. However, SLED is investigating the shooting death of a 25-year-old Hardeeville man, Taj Garvin, who was found in a car in Hardeeville late Sunday.

SLED, the Sheriff's Office and the Bluffton Police Department set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and searched until shortly before midnight, McIntosh said.

The man was not found, but authorities are still actively searching for him, Sankowski said.

Maj. Donald Hipp of the Jasper County Sheriff's Office declined to release additional information Friday morning pending a news release.
