Two men were arrested Wednesday at a Hilton Head Island hotel, accused of trying to sell drugs to another guest, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

A clerk at the Red Roof Inn on Regency Parkway called deputies at about 10:30 p.m. to have the occupants of one room removed after one of them reportedly offered someone drugs, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.

When deputies went to the room, they found the suspect, 38-year-old Ernest Roberts of Allendale, and another occupant, 30-year-old Kenyon Sanders of Estill, McIntosh said. Officers smelled marijuana and searched the room, locating a bag containing about 2 grams of crack cocaine, 14 wrapped bags of a substance suspected to be marijuana -- totaling about 11 grams -- and about 85 pills suspected to be oxycodone.

Deputies charged both men with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to court records.

Sanders, also served two bench warrants, was being held Thursday at the Beaufort County Detention Center with bail set at $27,392. Roberts was also being held at the detention center, with bail of $25,000.
