Second man arrested in Bluffton shooting incident

March 4, 2014

A man run over by an SUV during a disturbance last month in Old Town Bluffton was charged Tuesday, accused of shooting into a crowd and the SUV during the incident.

Javon William Hamilton, 24, of Bluffton was hospitalized Feb. 20 after he was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe outside of a house in the 1200 block of May River Road, a Bluffton Police Department news release said. The driver, 29-year-old Quaddray Dramel Gaston of Bluffton, was charged with attempted murder and released from the Beaufort County Detention Center after posting a $30,000 bond.

Investigators did not identify Hamilton as a suspect until he was released from the hospital, the release said.

The U.S. Marshals Service helped find Hamilton, who was at his home on May River Road, the release said.

He was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was being held Tuesday in the county jail pending a bond hearing.
