The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a freeze warning for Beaufort and Jasper counties, in effect from 1 to 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Temperatures near freezing are expected away from the coast, according to the warning, leading to a freeze that could be harmful to plants and plumbing.

"A freeze of 2 to 4 hours is likely tonight," the warning says.

There is also a possibility of freezing drizzle, especially in Jasper County, according to the National Weather Service.

Those in the warning area are advised to protect sensitive vegetation and exposed plumbing and to check weather.gov for updates.
