Hilton Head Christian Academy's Trace Crowe holds a two-stroke lead after the second round of the Golf Etc. High School Invitational at the Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run.

Crowe shot even par Saturday after opening with a 6-under round on Friday. He leads Beaufort High's Josh Fickes and Riverside's Jonathan Hardee by two shots. Fickes shot 2 under in both rounds.

Gilbert's Caleb Preveaux is three shots behind Crowe. He was 5 under on Friday, but 2 over on Saturday.

Hilton Head Island High's Andrew Orischak is alone in fifth place at 1 over. He shot even par in the second round.

The tournament, which concludes Sunday, features 26 teams from South Carolina and Georgia. The final round tees off at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Hilton Head Island High 14, Socastee 13: Katy Bautista scored with three seconds remaining in overtime to give the Seahawks their second one-goal win to start the season.

Bautista finished with four goals and two assists, and Haley Matousek led the team with five goals. Abby Ogden added a goal and five assists, and Savannah Reier notched two goals. Tristyn Sheaffer and Carson Kendrick each added a goal for the Seahawks (2-0), who got 13 saves from goalie Shayra Valdez.

Hilton Head High plays again at 6 p.m. Monday, hosting Savannah Christian.


Beaufort Relays: Beaufort High and Hilton Head Island High were the big winners in the annual Beaufort Relays, each winning nine events.

Battery Creek won three events, including both the boys and girls triple jump relays.

Hilton Head Prep 13-14, St. Andrew's 3-3: The Dolphins started their season with a bang, sweeping a doubleheader from St. Andrew's, 13-3 and 14-3.

Cem Caglyan pitched four innings in the opener, giving up one hit for the win. Tyler Fox led the offense by going 3 for 3 with four RBIs. Randy Young was 2 for 3 with three runs, Kevin Campbell went 2 for 3 with two runs, and Brooks Robinson scored three runs and had an RBI

In the second game, freshman Reese Irwin got the win, striking out three in three innings. Caglyan went 3 for 3 with an RBI and three runs. John Sheehan, Robinson, Young and Fox all had two hits. Campbell scored three runs and J.T. Marbut was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI.

Hilton Head Prep (2-0) plays at Thomas Heyward Academy at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Frederica Academy 5, Hilton Head Christian 4: The hosts scored an unearned run in the sixth to spoil the season opener for the Eagles.

Hilton Head Christian had tied the score at 4 with a pair of runs in the fourth.

Matt Van Grouw went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Luke Higgs had two hits, a walk and an RBI for the Eagles. Alex Cooler doubled, walked and scored a run.

Hilton Head Christian hits the road again Wednesday -- part of three straight away games for the Eagles to start the season -- at St. Andrew's.
