Two teenagers were charged with second-degree burglary Thursday after they were seen entering a St. Helena Island home, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

A caller reported seeing two people entering the home on Fripp Point Road at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said. The caller knew the homeowner was gone, she said.

Deputies found a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy collecting items inside the home, McIntosh said. The homeowner told the Sheriff's Office neither had permission to be there, she said.

The 17-year-old is being held at the Beaufort County Dentention Center. The 14-year-old is being held at the state Department of Juvenile Justice.
