A Hilton Head Island man was arrested Tuesday after reportedly dancing amid traffic on William Hilton Parkway, a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report said.

A driver spotted the 22-year-old man, who was wearing cargo shorts but no shirt, dancing in a left lane of the road near Palmetto Dunes at about 4:25 p.m., the report said. Soon after, deputies spotted a man matching the suspect's description riding a bike.

After a short chase, deputies found the suspect in woods behind Grant's Mini Mart, the report said. He told them he had been enjoying the sunny weather and decided to have some fun.

The man did not seem intoxicated and denied being on any medication, the report said.

He was charged with being a pedestrian in the roadway and fleeing to evade arrest. He was being held Wednesday at the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bond set at $1,354.50.
