Four Hilton Head Island teenagers were arrested Tuesday, accused of carrying BB guns and a flask onto school property, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

Deputies received a complaint at about 5:30 p.m. that a group was walking near the Hilton Head Island High School soccer field with guns, the report said. Deputies found four teenagers near the woods carrying three BB guns.

The teenagers, ages 16 and 17, told deputies they were shooting squirrels, the report said.

The 16-year-olds were charged with weapons possession on school property and released to their parents. One also faces a charge of minor in possession of alcohol, after he told officers he found a flask in the woods and put it in his pocket, the report said. They will each be tried in Family Court.

The 17-year-old was charged as an adult with weapons possession on school property and transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center. He was released early Wednesday on a personal bond.
