Prep roundup, Feb. 24: Beaufort Academy advances in girls basketball playoffs

Beaufort Academy defeated Holly Hill Academy 45-36 on Monday as the Eagles advanced in the SCISAA Class 2-A playoffs behind 23 points from Miranda Weslake.

Katie Gay added 11, and Casey Kahn scored six for the Eagles.

BA (18-6) wil take on defending state champion Richard Winn at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in a state semifinal at the Sumter Civic Center.

Trinity-Byrnes 27, Thomas Heyward Academy 19: The Rebels finish the season 10-13 in the SCISAA Class 2-A playoffs.

Haylee Wade and Ellie Bryan led the way with six points each, and Sydney Glassberg added five.

"I was really proud of the girls," Rebels coach Roy Pryror said. "They started slowly. They're young and inexperienced, but they came on at the end."
