Reality TV is back in the Lowcountry.

"House Hunters," which airs on HGTV, has contacted Beaufort and Port Royal officials, organizations and businesses about filming a show in the area.

Attempts Thursday to reach HGTV spokesmen were unsuccessful, but a company representative in Los Angeles, who has contacted people in Beaufort about filming, confirmed there is a TV crew in town.

Each episode, the show focuses on a prospective homebuyer who considers three properties for sale, according to the show's website.

Robb Wells of the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce said a film company is in town, likely through the weekend.

"Small crew, but in Beaufort/Port Royal, they will be noticed," Wells wrote in an email.

The "staples" of Beaufort sights and attractions are on the list of places the crew will visit and film, he said.

Port Royal Town Hall received a voicemail from a "House Hunters" representative about filming this weekend, town clerk Tanya Payne said.

Fripp Langford of Friends of Caroline Hospice said the crew wants to film Saturday at the Bands, Brews & BBQ fundraiser in Port Royal, which supports the organization

"I responded back with a shameless plug about how we're a nonprofit that doesn't accept any money from patients, and we'd love national publicity," she said.

Langford said she was told the crew was shooting at the Spanish Moss Trail, and Kazoobie Kazoos owner Stephen Murray said the crew would be at his business, as well as locations such as Penn Center on St. Helena Island.
