Prep Roundup, Feb. 19: HHCA basketball teams win at Beaufort Academy

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Hilton Head Christian Academy 69, Beaufort Academy 37: Macee Tamminen scored 23 points to send the Christian Academy girls into the playoffs with an easy win.

Ziaira Doe added 14 points, Andy Anderson had 13 and Francesca Guidobono scored 12 for HHCA (19-4), which led 36-17 at halftime. Hannah Reynolds finished with seven points.

The Christian Academy opens the SCISAA Class 3-A playoffs on Friday. Their opponent has yet to be determined.

Miranda Weslake led Beaufort Academy with 22 points.

Hilton Head Prep 36, Bible Baptist 25: Catherine Sheehan scored 12 points as the Hilton Head Prep girls wrapped up their season.

Foster Willey and Kendall Smith each added eight points for the Dolphins (5-17).

"We finished on a positive note with a W to end the season," Prep coach Dan Sheehan said.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Hilton Head Christian Academy 76, Beaufort Academy 36: Brad Meccariello scored 21 points to lead Hilton Head Christian.

HHCA (11-13) also got 11 points from Mike Dillon and seven from Frank Smith. Jameron Clark, Zach Polk and Hunter Greenwell scored six apiece in the win.

Kane Thorp led Beaufort Academy with 11 points.

Bible Baptist 61, Hilton Head Prep 53: The Dolphins (12-9) ended the regular season on a loss and will have to wait to find out their playoff fate.

"We'll be happy to get in as an at-large," Hilton Head Prep coach Jerry Faulkner said.

John Eck led Prep with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Brennan Mikell and Randy Young each scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
