Persisting winter weather in some parts of the state forced the S.C. High School League to change the basketball playoff schedule again Friday.

The last day to play regular season games was moved to Feb 19. Basketball playoffs for all classifications will start Feb. 20. The second round for all classifications will be held Feb. 22.

For the third round, all classifications for girls and Class 4-A boys will play Feb. 25. Class 1-A, 2-A and 3-A boys will play the third round Feb. 26.

An announcement earlier in the week said the contests would start Feb. 19 for some classifications and that Class 2-A and 4-A boys would continue on schedule. That became unrealistic after schools remained closed through the end of the week.

A High School League release mentioned weekend cancellations forcing the extention of the season. It said the weather was "more devastating than anticipated," citing loss of power and water in some areas.
