At least $2,000 worth of property is missing from one of the Hilton Head Island condominiums that was condemned after a fire in December, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

A former resident of Wyndemere told deputies she went to retrieve items from her unit at 50 Yacht Cove Drive on Feb. 1 and noticed several belongings missing from a bedroom. Additional details about what was missing were not available in the report, which was filed Monday, but the incident was classified as a grand larceny, meaning the stolen property was worth at least $2,000.

Only two people had access to the unit, she said. Deputies were unable to process the condo for evidence because it was gutted for demolition Feb. 2, according to the report.

An investigation into the theft continues, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said. A Dec. 18 fire destroyed six units and damaged the remaining 12 condominiums of Wyndemere's building 300.
