Two men were charged with attempted murder Tuesday in connection with a January shooting on Hilton Head Island, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

A 24-year-old woman was reportedly picking up a friend from Hilton Head Gardens on Jan. 26 when an argument broke out between the friend and two men, a Sheriff's Office news release said. After the woman and friend left in a gray Chrysler 300, they were followed by at least two people in a white SUV, the release said.

While traveling on U.S. 278, occupants of the SUV fired at the Chrysler, shattering its windows and damaging its windshield and body, the release said. No injuries were reported.

Denzel Webb, 18, of Hilton Head Island was charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm at a vehicle and trespassing after notice, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said. Bernard Garvin, 22, of Charlotte was charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm at a vehicle, McIntosh said.

They were both being held Wednesday at the Beaufort County Detention Center pending bond hearings, according to the jail log.

Additional details on their arrests were not available Wednesday, McIntosh said, citing the ongoing investigation.
