Republican Congress is a destructive force

Someone tell me why our government bailed out the banks that caused their own problems to the tune of almost $1 trillion and yet failed to bail out hard workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

How can Republicans, who profess to represent the people, vote to eliminate unemployment insurance extensions to those who can't find jobs? Had these same Republicans served the people by bailing each and every one of us out instead of banks, these banks would have remained solvent, most of the foreclosures on homes would have been diverted and the economy would have been in better shape. By the way, I'm not a victim.

This Republican Congress has been the most obstructive and destructive political entity in this country's history. Why any low- to middle-class worker would entertain voting Republican is beyond me. It's the equivalent of voting to slice one's own throat.

For those of you who rely on Social Security and Medicare, you're part of the 47 percent of takers -- as described by Fox News and the Republican Party. If you buy into either or both of them, refuse these government handouts immediately so you can be in compliance with their ideas.

The rest of us would like to see the 47 percent drop to possibly 23 percent.
