Terrance Morgan

Police are searching for a man accused of assaulting a woman Saturday in the town of Port Royal.

Terrance Morgan, 24, of Port Royal is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault, according to the town's police department.

Morgan went to the 28-year-old victim's house to speak with his girlfriend, the mother of his children, who had gone there after arguing with him, according to a police report. His girlfriend locked herself in her car, and the victim told Morgan to leave, the report said.

Morgan then punched her in the face, the report said. The victim was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she underwent a nine-hour surgery Sunday to repair facial fractures and her jaw, according to her sister, Lottie Campenella.

The victim was released Tuesday from MUSC, but her jaw will be wired shut for a few weeks, followed by three to six months of rehabilitation, Campenella said.
