The Battery Creek High School wrestling program plans to host a gathering Saturday night for all of its wrestlers past and present who want to share stories and catch up.

The Dolphins hope the conversation includes a Lower State duals title.

The Class 2-A/1-A Lower State duals tournament will be held at Battery Creek on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. The winner, crowned after the final match at 4 p.m., will advance to Dreher High School on Feb. 15 to wrestle the Upper State champion for the state title.

Battery Creek enters as the No. 3 seed of 12 teams after brackets were formed based on win percentage. The Dolphins have beaten the two seeds ranked ahead of them -- Aynor and Marion -- and also the No. 4 seed, Bamberg-Ehrhardt.

Dolphins coach Nate Day was cautiously optimistic Friday.

"Unless somebody gets hurt today or oversleeps in the morning, this will be the first time all year we've had our 14 best guys at the same time," Day said. "A couple of them are banged up here and there, but at least we have all 14 of them. There won't be any excuses."

Battery Creek comes in with some momentum, with seven champions at the Region 6-AA meet and 14 top-three placers.

"I'm looking forward to it," Day said. "It should be a fun environment."

At Hilton Head Island High School, the Seahawks will play host to two rounds of the Class 3-A duals tournament Saturday.

The Seahawks, ranked No. 11 in Class 3-A and the Region 8 champions, wrestle unranked Myrtle Beach in the first round. With a victory, they would advance to face either Airport or Darlington, the other first-round match at Hilton Head High.

Bluffton, the third seed from Region 8-AAAA, travels to Goose Creek on Saturday to open the Class 4-A duals. Beaufort High, the fourth seed, travels to Wando.
