Prep Roundup, Feb. 5: Hilton Head High girls hold off Hanahan, 50-42

Hilton Head Island High 50, Hanahan 42: Americal Jenkins had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Tiffany Banks scored 14 points to help the Seahawks grab second place in the region.

Lauryn Bush added nine points and six rebounds for Hilton Head High (14-7 overall, 5-2 Region 8-AAA). Rachel Friend had six points, Savannah Reier scored five and Brennan O'Gorman had two points and six rebounds. Freshman D'Nesha Miller subbed for Jenkins when she got in foul trouble, finishing with five rebounds.

The Seahawks host No. 1 Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Friday.

Beaufort Academy 45, Hilton Head Prep 38: Miranda Weslake scored 26 points -- including seven in the fourth quarter -- as Beaufort Academy pulled away from visiting Prep.

Casey Kahn and Mary Keane each scored four for Beaufort Academy (12-6), which hosts Thomas Heyward on Friday in a game to determine the region champion.

Kendall Smith scored 11 points and Catherine Sheehan had 10 for Prep (3-14), which hosts First Baptist on Friday.

Colleton Prep 46, Thomas Heyward Academy 34: Sydney Glassberg scored 16 points, but the Rebels dropped the non-region game.

Alayna DeLong added five points, Cheyanne Gray and Ellie Bryan had four each, Haylee Wade scored three and Jamie Davis had two for Thomas Heyward (9-10, 5-2)

The Rebels play at Beaufort Academy on Friday with the region title on the line.

JV: Whale Branch 26, Battery Creek 20


Hanahan 56, Hilton Head Island High 39: The Seahawks remained winless in Region 8-AAA.

Rodney Keener scored 18 points to lead Hanahan (12-9, 6-1), which pulled away after leading by three at halftime.

Jacob Coltrane and Patrick Riley each scored eight for Hilton Head High (3-18, 0-7), which hosts Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Friday.

Thomas Heyward Academy 71, Colleton Prep 60: Dylan Tillotson led four Rebels in double figures with 18 points, as Thomas Heyward got over the .500 mark for the season.

Collin Roach added 16, Davis Owens had 14 and Seth Jones scored 13 for the Rebels (11-10), who play at rival Beaufort Academy on Friday.
