College honors for Feb. 3

• Park University announced local students named to the fall 2013 dean's list. To qualify for the list, students must be degree-seeking; have completed 12 or more graded hours at Park University, either in one 16-week term or in two consecutive accelerated terms; earned a semester grade point average of 3.600 or better; and received no incomplete grade for the semester or terms. Students from the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort Campus Center: Juan Allen, Joel Blackwell, Lameka Capers, Jeff Cherry, Tony Darling, Kimberly Dessart, George Erdel, Leafar Espinosa Mejia, Melanie Frazier, Democrito Gamboa, Jason Grayson, Clinton Grigsby, Timothy Hodges, Sheila Hudson, Jack Hunt, Salita Johnson, Keyana Jordan, Christopher Kuykendall, Joshua Larrimore, Dwight McPherson, Rachel Michener, Leroy Purifoy, Todd Roberts, Megan Rogowsky, Lauro Samaniego, David Sealey, Eugene Sell, Jessica Singley.

  • Emily Hutchins of Beaufort was named to Lenoir-Rhyne University's dean's list for the 2013 fall semester. These students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.
  • Alexander MacDonald, son of Michael and Susanne MacDonald of Hilton Head Island, has been awarded Gold Stars for the 2013 fall semester at The Citadel in Charleston. Gold Stars are awarded to dean's list students who have made a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher for the work of a semester. MacDonald was also promoted to the rank of first battalion clerk and sergeant of Charlie Company.
  • Kevin MacDonald, son of Michael and Susanne MacDonald of Hilton Head Island, has been named to the dean's list and president's list for the fall 2013 semester at The Citadel in Charleston. The president's list is one the most distinguished cadet awards presented by The Citadel. It indicates excellence in academics and military duties. The list is a combination of the dean's list and the commandant's distinguished list, which is composed of cadets who contribute the most to their companies and who have excellent military and academic records. MacDonald is in Hotel Company and has accepted a contract with the U.S. Army.
