Activity in church: Volunteer with the children's program, Island Kidz

A home. The Hilton Head Island Community Church is all about family. Everyone makes you feel at home there. I've been serving with the Island Kidz program. It's for babies through fifth grade, separated into different age groups.

Teaching. I was a member of LowCountry Community Church in Bluffton, and they wanted to branch off and start a congregation on the island. I live out here on the island, they needed help out here, and I got involved with the children's program. I'll teach the kids, a lot of times I'll do the greeting, meeting the parents and signing the kids in. I try to help out wherever needed.

The children. I love kids. I absolutely love children. I have been blessed with one child myself. I have a 17-year-old son, Garrett, who is awesome. I always wanted to have more kids, but it wasn't in (God's) plan. Instead He has given me the opportunity to serve many children every weekend and help them develop a relationship with God.

Favorite Bible verse. Proverbs 22:6. "Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it." There's many different facets to that verse. Some people may think training is all about discipline, but really there's a lot more involved than that. It's the experiences a child has in their life. If you start early with a child and give them an opportunity to experience God, it sets them on the right path for the rest of their life.
