A Hilton Head Island High School student was arrested last week after allegedly bringing a knife to school, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

Orlando White, 17, was brought to the principal's office at about 9:45 a.m. Jan. 24 after another student reported suspicious behavior, the report said.

When school officials and a deputy searched the student's backpack, they found a 3-inch-long silver knife. White told officers he had forgotten the knife was with him.

White was charged with possession of a weapon on school property. He was released from the Beaufort County Detention Center on Jan. 24 on a $2,000 personal bond.
